Jordan Hazen has been a Fish and Wildlife Technician at Sauvie Island Wildlife Area for about 4 years and works at the Eastside Check Station during waterfowl season. Prior to becoming permanent at Sauvie Island, Jordan’s ODFW work experience includes 3 summers banding ducks at Fern Ridge Wildlife Area, Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area, and Sauvie Island Wildlife Area, with a few weeks also spent banding at Summer Lake Wildlife Area and Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, and two winters operating goose check stations. Jordan has also spent about seven years on owl studies including northern spotted owls and barred owls. As an avid waterfowl hunter, Jordan has pursued waterfowl across the state from the coast to the high desert and has enjoyed learning the diverse habitats and opportunities that Sauvie Island has to offer.
