Jai Kim, a moderator of the Oregon Surf Perch Fishing Club on Facebook, will be sharing his tips/techniques/knowledge on how to fish in the surf. Jai has helped many anglers catch their first surf perch and spends more than 50 days a year pursuing this wonderful fish. Jai is a certified ODFW instructor and has taught several ODFW Surf Perch workshops and holds these annually. He will cover how to be safe in the ocean, what equipment works best including riggings, reels, rods, tackle, bait and what techniques are essential to catch surf perch. There’s no other fishery like Surf Fishing due to the wide variety of species you can catch like redtail surfperch, silver surfperch, salmon, sea-run trout, crabs, flounders, sculpins and even an occasional striped bass. If you take Oregon Coast vacations, it’s easy to try this type of fishing but it can be challenging. You can get alot of help from attending this seminar and becoming a member of Jai’s Facebook club.
